Entering a forest area of the Sanctuary, and immediately feel beset by an eerie silence. The trees seem not to move, and you can't for the life of you hear any birds. You feel an uncanny sense of deja vu. Suddenly, you hear a snap and you flatten yourself up against a very large tree. Knowing what will come next, you brace yourself for a fall, and as anticipated, instead of feeling the solid trunk of the tree behind you, you fall backwards, and end up lying flat on your back staring up at a ceiling. A young woman's head peers down at you, and you smile.
"Hello, you're back upon my floor again." Jenovefa says with a smile. "Would you like me to get you up again, I've got the mechanism a little closer and easier to find now." She reaches over and pushes a button on the wall. The familiar sound of the word "Esaeler" enters your ears, and you immeadiately feel the pressure of the invisible force lift. Before you can get up though, a little golden head looks down on you. Not knowing quite what to do, you're momentarily astounded at the strange things found in Jenovefa's home. The creature blinks multi-faceted eyes, and you realise that this is the little Vortex dragon that Jenovefa was trying to impress.
"Oh," She laughs, "I would like you to meet Quintrex - the little gold female that I managed to impress. She really is a little ball of curiosity and fire - she even startled me at her hatching." Jenovefa laughs again, and the little dragon goes to her, whilst you get up from the floor. The pair look so happy that you can't help smiling yourself.
"She caught me quite by surprise you know. And a little gold queen!! I feel so blessed. I didn't know what to say when she chose me, her mother responded in quiet aproval to her choice though - for which I feel thankful. She's such a dear anyway, I would have loved her if she were any colour at all!" Quintrex quietly trills, and Jenovefa gives her a piece of fruit. "I'm not sure whether she is supposed to eat fruit, but she eats such a lot of it, and I am glad to give it to her. I only hope that it is not, in some way, detrimental to her health!"
You smile, and from the way little Quintrex guzzles down the soft fruits Jenovefa passes to her, you say that it cannot be bad if she likes it so. Jenovefa tucks some of her wavy brown hair behind an ear, blue eyes shining at you and says that she is glad that you think so - she would hate to think that she is putting Quintrex in any sort of danger. She smooths her skirt, pulling at the little midrif top that she wears and then goes to collect some mugs from the cupboard. From your last visit, you know that she is about to offer you some sort of drink, and know that even if you refuse, she will have you drinking it anyway, so you make yourself at home at her kitchen table. You look to the pile of Quintex's fluffy cushions on the floor in the corner, and even as you think that it seems that Quintrex would like to lie on them, she heads over, plonks herself down, swallows the last piece of fruit, and promptly goes to sleep. You chuckle to yourself, and accept the warm drink Jenovefa passes to you.
The two of you talk a little - about her boyfriend, the impression and where exactly Dragonmaid had seemed to go. She had mentioned that she had gone for over a month, the place starting to fall into slight disrepair. "Oh, she was preparing to move things, or something. I know that a friend of hers needed her, and then she had problems trying to get back - in that she couldn't" Jenovefa laughs. "It was okay though, the rest of us looked after the place tolerably anyway, even if some schedules weren't quite met."
Sitting and talking for quite sometime, Jenovefa tempts you with some home-baked biscuits, and then you cannot resist her offer of you staying for tea. You know that you probably should go, but you declined her last offer, and the thought of more delicious food makes your stomach rumble with anticipation.
A few hours later, after eating a delicious meal - consisting of pasta, fried rice and somekind of chocolate pudding for afters - and playing with Quintrex for what seemed like a short time, you admit you must take your leave. Smiling and saying that you should not hesitate to 'drop in' again, she offers you a small bag of fruits, and leads you to the door.
Quintrex is asleep before the two of you reach it.
