The Hatching of Dragons
Little is known about the exact details surrounding the birth of dragons. Things like; how long it takes; whether it is or isn't a seasonal thing; whether or not the parents are
present; are almost completely unknown, or are such that no universal 'law' exists.
Tempest, of D.R.A.G.O.N.S. has the theory that "there's nothing very precise about this since it is very difficult to determine the behaviour of a creature if you have never seen one... In "The Book of the Dragons" for example, only the males take care of the eggs, and he will 'abandon' his young at birth (however, he will keep the area safe until the young dragons enter adolescence).
This is a theory like many other, my theory is that the dragons would remain with the young until they are old enough to go on their own. It could be seasonal, like in period of the year that may be more suitable (for food, weather, etc.) to raise offspring. But, if we consider them to be intelligent, we could also assume that they could be less instinctive (more human, for example) and that they could reproduce in any time of the year if their environment permits them to do so.
Anything precise about the incubation period of the eggs is pure speculation but it's should be from 2 month to a year before the young break their shell."
